The All Star week is scheduled for the week of August 7-10. Please return the all stars form no later than July 30th.

Need 6 representatives from your team to participate in the all star games.

August 7th 5:30 Women's game

August 7th 6:45 Men's Game

August 8th 5:30 Over 40 Men & Women game

August 9th 5:30 Commishs' Pick All Star Game

For those of you playing in this league for the first time, this is a don't miss event. We are sending out a pot luck item for your team to bring later this week. I will provide the drinks and BBQ pit for all to use. Just bring your own meat to cook and your league mates will provide the rest. Advise your team to come out and support their representative in the 20th anniversary of me being the COMMISH.

We'll have a jumper for the kids and a snow cone machine to help cool them off.

5/29/2007 Season Opener

Today starts the season opening for the SUMC Softball League. We should have a great time with this one pitch tournament. Please make sure your team rush in and out between innings to keep up with this tight schedule. We are only playing 5 innings or 30 minutes whichever comes first. You will only have one pitch to attempt a hit. You will pitch to yourselves with the defensive player standing behind the pitchers mound area.

I will need to have all signed waivers in the possession of the umpire prior to the starting of your game, NO exceptions. Those of you that have not turned in your fees, please put that on your list of "to do's".

I would like everyone to pay close attention to our new and improved umpiring crew. Make sure to shoot me a line on how well they are doing.

Good Luck to all,

Leander J. Robinson

5/18/2007 New League Rule!

A new rule has been added this year. Please review the rule and ask the umpire before the game or contact Leander or Carey prior to games for any clarifications. We hope this new rule will make the games more competitive, balanced and fun.

Rule 35. There is a 7-run rule for innings 1 through 4. The rule is that no team may score more than 7 runs per inning UNLESS a team is behind in score. In such a case, the losing team may score runs to tie and runs to gain the lead in the same inning, but only to a gain of a 7 run lead. When the 7-run rule is met, the teams switch offense and defense regardles of the number of outs. Beginning at the top of the 5th inning and for the remainder of the game, the 7-run rule no longer applies and teams may score any number of runs until 3 outs are made.
